As F-150 pickup truck grows older, its lineup usually becomes boosted by a few special models. Under the hood of a new Raptor, 3.5L twin turbo V6 will make more than 450 horsepower and similar amount of torque. Such a high output is available thanks to tweaked engine internals. As Raptor is off-road version of F-150, all-wheel drive will be standard in all models, and Ford might finish its 10-speed automatic transmission up until then which, on the other hand, means that 2017 Ford Raptor might be the first model to incorporate it.

But, there are a lot of mode of driving. In serial production Ford will offer: normal mode, street mode, weather and snow mode. As you can see, this vehicle is very similar to Ford Atlas. In addition  to the engine, design is like Atlas truck.

Styling – new desing and changes

For now, Raptor shouldn’t differ too much in comparison to current F-150’s exterior design. However, 2017 might also bring some facelift changes to the full-size truck, and Raptor could reflect them. Still, Raptor will have blacked-out grille, bumper and fenders, with black tailgate as well. This is its trademark, and there’s no denying that, just like huge Ford lettering up front and around the back are Raptors’ signature details too. Moreover, it will offer some revised parts, more suitable for off-roading, which include different bumpers, skid plates and larger wheels. In conclusion, 2017 Ford Raptor is much more muscular than its high-volume sibling.

New F-150’s sub-model will be offered in two cab configurations; SuperCab and SuperCrew which means there’s no Regular cab. This also means that Raptor is made for multiple passengers which should have plenty of room in it, at least in crew cab, that is. Like its siblings, it will execute the same angular dashboard and similar overall interior design. Most of the surfaces will be painted black which corresponds to its exterior details. Infotainment system will be carried over from regular F-150 models, and Raptor should get it as standard, from the get-go.

However, navigation will most likely have to be acquired additionally. In fact, as one of the most expensive models of future F-150 lineup, Raptor will correlate with both King Ranch and Platinum models in terms of its accessories and available tech. This also means that safety features should include standard rearview camera, blind-spot monitors and lane-keeping system, while adaptive cruise control will be optional. Moreover, no one can safely exclude additional, new features which Ford might induct into the lineup by then.

2017 Ford Raptor Price and Competition

Fuel economy ratings aren’t something Raptor can boast with and this won’t change as long as it remains an off-road-oriented truck. However, new turbo V6 will be slightly more gentle with fuel consuming than its 6.2L V8 predecessor was. In accordance to top of the line position, base price will most likely be set to $50,000 region. This truck will go on the sale in the end of 2016 year.

As you can imagine, the key competitors are:  Toyota Tundra (price starts at 41,285 dollars) and Dodge Ram Power Wagon (price from 45,690 dollars).

2017 Ford Raptor is going to expand F-150’s lineup and offer some exciting off-road performance. It will be rather expensive and not really fuel-efficient, but if you require a truck for forest runarounds, for example, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better candidate than Raptor.

2017 Ford Raptor has a lot of weaknesses and advantages.
