We are now going to talk about two trucks that offer great styling, good engines and some very good interiors. Even though they sound alike, the two couldn’t be more different. Let the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor vs 2016 Dodge Ram Rebel battle start!
Just as their names suggest, both of them are actually based on the normal trucks, so at the core both of them are just simple work tools. However, the Rebel took a completely different approach offering a stylized exterior and identical engines to the normal truck while the Raptor is an all out super-truck which is not only more powerful but also more fuel efficient as well as more aggressive than the Rebel.
2017 Ford F-150 Raptor vs 2016 Dodge Ram Rebel Prices
Their prices are also mighty different with the Rebel going for around 30 to 35.000 dollars for a base truck while the Raptor will cost between 45 and 55.000 dollars, depending on the options of choice. The release date for the Rebel has been announced to be in the mid of 2015 while the Raptor will hit the showrooms at the start of 2016.

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor vs 2016 Dodge Ram Rebel – short review
Just as we said, the Ram Rebel is just an upgrade of the normal model, offering quite a different interior and a slightly updated interior. Besides that there is not much more about it. The good part is that it is quite cheap and the interior is great. The new interlocking front grille which replaces the cross-hair one is great and together with the new 18 inch wheels and all terrain tires, it looks a lot better than the base model. The only drawback of the Rebel is what is under its hood.
Just like the normal model, it will come with either a 3 liter 305 horsepower V6 or with a 398 horsepower 5.7 liter V8. Both of them are decent in terms of fuel economy and both of them offer nice performance but unfortunately not even the V8 can match what its in the Raptor.

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
Just as we said, the Raptor is a completely different beast. It will now be based on the new F-150 chassis and it will also feature the aluminum body. This means that it will weigh almost 500 pounds less which when coupled to the new engine should mean that the performance will increase by quite a nice margin.
The new Raptor will now get a brand new 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine which is said to develop as much as 500 horsepower and more than 450 lb-ft of torque. However, even though it will be more powerful, the truck will also be more fuel efficient thanks to the turbocharged engine and the lower total weight. I know this sounds impressive but it isn’t the most impressive upgrade yet.
The transmission is now a 10 speed automatic gearbox which is coupled to an all wheel drive system. This can run in the normal way which lets the driver lock the differentials or in an automatic mode which will provide just how much power each wheel needs.
Just like before, it will get the Fox racing shocks but in order to be tougher, the diameter increased to 3 inches. These and the aluminum front end should give the Raptor quite the performance, both off-road and on it.
Conclusion – which is better?
So, what will be the winner between the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor vs 2016 Dodge Ram Rebel? Well, both, mainly because these are two very different truck which are great in their respective class. At this point in time, the Raptor doesn’t really have a competitor which is fine considering how outrageous it is but the Rebel does have an adversary in the TRD Pro Tundra, which is very similar in terms of construction.
